Réglementations UE : R129 i-Size expliquée

Le EU is transitioning from ECE R44 (the old weight-based standard) to R129 i-Size (the new height-based standard). Both are currently legal in all EU countries. For any new purchase, always buy R129 i-Size, it is safer and the future standard.

Faut-il un siège coque ou puis-je passer directement à un évolutif ?

You can go directly to a convertible seat from birth, many are rated from 40 cm (newborn) and save you the cost of a separate infant seat. Le advantage of an infant seat is portability (carry handle, clips to pram for a travel system). If you drive frequently and want to carry a sleeping baby from car to house without waking them, an infant seat is worth it. If you don't drive much, a convertible from birth is more economical.

After installation, the seat should pas move more than 2–3 cm when pulled firmly at the top. Many fire stations and specialist baby retailers offer free installation checks, use them for your first seat.
