"The 360° rotation is genuinely useful, especially for loading and unloading a sleeping baby without waking them. The lie-flat position (full horizontal recline) makes it the safest option for newborns who cannot tolerate semi-reclined positions for extended periods."

Pros
  • 360° rotation, load facing you, rotate to face road
  • Full lie-flat position, safe for extended journeys
  • Extended rear-facing to 87cm / approx. 15 months
  • ISOFIX and SensorSafe included
  • Compatible with Cybex stroller range
Cons
  • Premium price (€350–450)
  • Requires Cybex-compatible base (sold separately)
  • Bulkier than non-rotating seats

Travel System Compatibility

A travel system lets the infant car seat clip directly onto your stroller frame. Key compatibility notes for EU parents:

  • Cybex seats: Compatible with Cybex Balios, Melio, and most Cybex strollers via Cybex adapters. Also works with select Bugaboo and Silver Cross frames.
  • Maxi-Cosi seats: Widest compatibility in Europe, works with Bugaboo, Stokke, Quinny, Silver Cross, and many others via universal adapters. Best choice if you already have a stroller from another brand.
  • Joie seats: Compatible with Joie strollers and select other brands. Check the Joie compatibility checker before buying.

FAQ

How long can a newborn be in an infant car seat?
The 2-hour rule applies, limit semi-reclined car seat time to 2 hours for newborns and young babies. In a fully flat/lie-flat position (Cybex Cloud G, Joie i-Level in flat mode), there is no specific time limit. For longer journeys, plan a break every 2 hours regardless.
Can I use an infant car seat without the base?
Most i-Size infant seats are designed to be used on a dedicated base only, the base is what provides the ISOFIX connection. Some older R44 infant seats had a belt-only option, but most modern i-Size infant seats require the base. The base is usually sold separately (€80–150) and is the most important element for safe installation.
